Fading Friendships
Completing 12 years of my schooling and transition
from school to college was quite a deal in my life. I was never a social
butterfly in school, made a few friends just to experience the ties loosening
as the time passed. I barely talk to them now, which cuts down the ‘actual’
friend count I made in my school life to one. But I am grateful for that one
person and also for the great times spent with all of them. I’d love to see
them again and experience that carefree fulfilling laughs I once had with them,
the beautiful souls. Brings a smile to my face, the times we sat together chit chatting,
laughing, roasting each other. Had some of my best laughs with these people. Now
I think how we spend our high school years finding the best of friends and then
making some best of memories with them but then we’re ripped apart from them to
go to our separate ways.
Loosing high school friends in college is inevitable.
They say you will cut some ties with past friends to make a room for new ones,
but it’s never easy and we all are in this together. It isn’t easy for anyone.
The group chat dwindles down. Before you realize, the dynamics change. It is a
quiet, unspoken yet painful goodbye. There are no fights or dramatic goodbyes.
You thought
those friendships will last life long and they didn’t, but still added value to
your life, gave you the moments you can cherish for life, made you happy at some
point of life. Maybe they weren’t meant for long. They were meant to be there for
limited time and you’ve had enough of them.
Those ties, those times, may no longer be present but
are still beautiful. Those memories with that group of yours, you’re no longer
in touch with will still be the highlight of your life. Friendships when get
over doesn’t mean it was bad and all those memories made will now have to go
away. It just means it’s time to move on and make new ones.
Love this. Hope college is treating you well!
